Hemavathi River

The Hemavathi River is a river in Sakleshpur southern India. It is one of the three major rivers in the state of Karnataka, flowing through the districts of Hassan, Chikkamagaluru, Tumakuru, Ramanagara and Mandya. The Hemavathi River is formed by the confluence of two rivers, the Shimsha and the Arkavati, at the town of Kanakapura in Ramanagara district. The river flows for about 275 km before it joins the Cauvery River at the KRS Dam in Mandya district. The catchment area of the Hemavathi River is 8,415 km2.
